During the basic EMDR therapy course, you learned to apply the standard EMDR protocol for relatively uncomplicated PTSD. This advanced course focuses on more complex trauma-related issues, challenging treatments, and broader applications, including complex PTSD. The advanced course is essential for a full understanding and responsible use of EMDR therapy in complex situations. Furthermore, this advanced course is a mandatory component of the training trajectory to become an EMDR practitioner, recognized by EMDR Europe.

The assessment for the advanced EMDR therapy course, similar to the basic course, consists of a knowledge test:
Training Content
Theoretical introductions (including the empirical status of EMDR therapy and mechanisms of action).
Live and video demonstrations.
Semi-plenary exercises.
Supervised practical exercises in pairs.
Schedule
The structure of the four-day advanced EMDR therapy course is as follows:
Days 1 & 2 (consecutive)During the first two days, various trauma-sensitive search strategies and component techniques will be discussed and practiced in small groups and pairs. Before the third day, you will apply the discussed search strategies and component techniques to your own clients and make video recordings of these sessions.
Assessment: individual, written knowledge test and creating/showing recordings of the application of the course material.
Days 3 & 4The morning of the third course day focuses on treatment for Complex PTSD (CPTSD). On the third and fourth days, there will be room for questions about the application of the search strategies and component techniques. Special attention is given to plenary viewing and discussion of video fragments of sessions with your own clients. There will also be room for questions about practical experiences with applying the course material.
